Welcome!

Welcome! We are very pleased you are here!

You are the focus at Equine Assisted Psychotherapy North Texas. We listen, we support, and we provide a setting where you can find your own answers, because we believe that it is important to learn to trust yourself. We will give you perspective to help you decide what is right for you.

Problems can be painful. They can be persistent, and they can seem like they can never be solved. They can make you feel like you have no hope, that you are broken, or that others think you are broken. But problems can also make you stronger.

We believe that having a problem doesn’t mean you are broken, it just means you are human. We will walk right beside you through those problems; our team of people and horses will help you find your path.

This path in the arena was created during an actual session, unbeknownst to the mental health therapist and the client, who were discussing building new pathways in the brain. Classic, the horse in this session, led the client to create the path as she held on to Classic’s lead, and our equine specialist saw it and pointed it out at just the right moment. This is but one of many instances the horses have shown or reinforced ideas happening in session.

Equine Assisted Psychotherapy is a Solution Oriented, Client Focused approach to therapy. You likely found us because you are ready to ask for help with your problems. Our team provides a setting where you can ask for help as you discover solutions to your problems so you can become independent, strong, and happy. We want to help you do that.

We go through problems too, and we are very good at helping others see problems as opportunities for growth and that good things can come out of them. We are not saying problems are easy, but that even the most difficult of problems can be solved, and while we are working on those solutions we can find growth and healing.

We can help you see the positive sides of things that others may have labeled as extremely difficult or unsolvable problems like depression, anxiety, shame, overwhelming guilt, trauma, bipolar disorder, abuse, lack of confidence or low self-esteem, marital issues, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, sexual assault, domestic violence, low self-confidence, lack of self esteem, stress, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, self-harming behaviors, grief, or any problem that has left you feeling helpless or hopeless.

Equine Assisted Psychotherapy is how we do this. Horses show us so many things we, as people, can’t otherwise see. Our Equine Specialist provides insight into what the horses are communicating in sessions, and our Mental Health Professional helps you process the information, as well as what you are thinking and feeling in reaction to the horses themselves.  Horses allow us to be more authentic with ourselves, and to face things more easily. Just being in the presence of a horse slows a person’s heart rate and blood pressure, causing a feeling of relaxation, which helps alleviate stress, thus making us feel calmer and more able to face problems.

Equine Assisted Psychotherapy is something we truly enjoy providing and something we believe in strongly; we see hope and healing in every session, and we will help you see it too.

There is growing research about the effectiveness of Equine Assisted Psychotherapy so we have provided some things for you to explore about that here on our website. We want you to know what to expect, and how it works. So please, pull up a chair and take a look around.
